This position manages and directs all schedules for current and upcoming business. The Director of Operations is responsible and directs the schedule and dispatches of each delivery, employees, including Project Managers, Foremen, Field Supervisors, and crew; and assigns appropriate vehicles and equipment to each crew for the current day. The Director of Operations manages the location and schedule for all operations employees daily.
Duties:
- Due to the nature of this job, must be cool, calm & collective under pressure at all times.
- Creates, monitors the daily/weekly/monthly operational schedules
- Supports and supervises Project Managers and Field Foremen in their communications with customers to ensure successful deliveries and site operations
- Oversees operational equipment and use.
- Supervises warehouse managers and all warehouse operations at headquarters and satellite facilities
- Coordinates communication throughout the company and approves contracts and plans
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of company’s Point of Rental software and routinely uses this tool to manage contracts
- Provides overview and details regarding daily work plans for foremen and crew leaders, explains plan strategies and walks-through site plan diagrams
- Receives completed delivery/pickup contracts; reviews them line by line with the responsible employee to flag issues or add key notes
- Checks in with Project Managers and Field Foremen throughout the day to receive updates and authorize any necessary changes in schedule or delays to all relevant parties
- Delegates duties to, and develops the skills of the Operations Manager; communicates regularly with the OM to keep them informed, updated, and ready to perform all duties of the Operations Manager
- Provides frontline customer service to clients daily and weekly.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of company organization and policies to support managers and staffers when problems arise
- Maintains a working knowledge of all active contracts and is ready to provide operational and administrative support
- Provides feedback and support to members of the management team regarding interdepartmental issues and operations
- Maintains a professional demeanor at all times to represent a sound leadership team to members of the company and the public
- Manages the hiring and firing in many departments.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Operation, General Manager or Assistant General Manager
The Director of Operations must have inventory management and software skills. Candidates for this position should have extensive logistical and transportation experience and the ability to maintain institutional knowledge and skills required to regulate daily operations and make decisions quickly in a fast-changing environment. Constant demonstration of professional customer service skills and personnel management capabilities is required.
